In theory we’re open to review requests, but given the casual and voluntary nature of the blog, we tend to be a bit picky about which and how many books we accept for review. We both mostly read adult titles these days, in the following genres:
- If you’re looking for a romance connoisseur, Lisa‘s your girl! She’s open to requests in the following subgenres:
- contemporary romance
- romantic suspense
- paranormal romance
- fantasy romance
- erotic romance
- historical romance
- If your book falls within one of the following genres/categories, Ellis might be a good fit!
- historical fiction
- urban fantasy
- high fantasy
- literary fiction
- non fiction (think Keep The Receipts, Notes on Heartbreak, the occasional celebrity memoir or nonfic about ancient Rome)
- historical romance
- women’s fiction
- comics (especially those with a speculative/fantasy element)
What to include in your review request
- a summary or synopsis
- the (intended) release date
- whether or not you have a specific time frame in mind for when you want/expect the review to be posted
- which reviewer(s) you think would be the best fit and why
- for practical reasons, our preferred format is digital copies/ebooks compatible with Kindle
Please know that we’re very honoured that you want us to read and review your book in the first place! The reason we’re picky is because we genuinely intend to review the requests we’ve accepted. We also tend to be critical readers and are honest in our reviews about the things we did and didn’t like.
It might happen that we are, for whatever reason, unable to accept your request or not comfortable with reviewing a book after we’ve accepted. We’ll try to notify you and be upfront about it if that happens. We’ll also try to crosspost our reviews to Goodreads.
Are you open to anything other than reviews?
We’re pretty flexible and might consider interviews with and guest posts from authors, bloggers, reviewers, … we’re familiar with, especially when you fall into the ‘looking for a space where I can write about something book-/reading-related I really want to talk about’ category that started this blog. Or if you have another type of post in mind that you think would be a good fit for this blog, we’re always willing to hear it!
